Caspiy Plaza

The cultural center of Azerbaijan, with office areas and subterranean parking is located in the midst of the most valuable inner city area, close to the garden ring. Due to an extensive duct and channel structure beneath the site, special attention had to be given to the foundations. The upper floors house residential apartments, which are linked to the cultural institute. Those residential spaces are only completed to a shell and core stage, to be furnished to the highest level with the future residents later on. The building completes the existing block pattern of the city grid. The facades are designed with varying shades of light sandstone as well as large glass panels allowing sunlit, attractive spaces inside. Decorative ornaments, as subdividing golden stripes, recall the cultural heritage and style of Azerbaijan, but transform them into today's language. This new archiectural expression hopefully launches future development in the quarter.
